F*Cancer Concerts
Behind the Scenes

Behind-the-scenes coverage of promotional video shoots and rehearsals for two cancer benefit concerts in 2022 and 23.

Following a cancer diagnosis in 2021, Rocket Norton, the founding drummer of the classic rock band Prism, conceived of the first show while still receiving treatment in 2022. Musicians and groups to lend their time to the cause included Prism, Loverboy, Trooper, Streetheart, Chilliwack, Headpins, Colin James, Lee Aaron and others. So successful was the first event, raising nearly $350,000, a second show was organized for 2023, attracting 53 musicians and doubling Norton's donations to BC Cancer treatment and research initiatives.

STANLEY CUP RIOTS

When the Vancouver Canucks lost to the Boston Bruins in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup playoffs in 2011, hockey fans, encouraged by the mayor to convene in the downtown area to watch the game on jumbotron screens, started smashing windows, looting stores and lighting cars on fire. The chaos was oddly celebratory, as only a small number of people in the downtown area were actively rioting. Most cheered them on amidst a party-like atmosphere,  recording the events for social media.
